Sizing Guide
We are keen to help you get the best size first time and have provided individual sizing charts for each jacket, coat and waistcoat style.
Each sizing chart gives an indication of the approximate 'To Fit Chest' size across the top row, this is the person's actual chest measurement when wearing a top of the usual thickness to be worn under the jacket, coat or waistcoat.
The sizing chart also details the average and approximate external dimensions of the leather garment, this is to give you an average indication of the maximum size the garment will be. It is important to note that the leather garment will need to be larger than your measurements to be able to be buttoned or zipped up. Also if the jacket, coat or waistcoat is padded then you will also need to allow for 1-2" loss in the external chest and waist width. That is to say that the jacket, coat or waistcoat will be 1" to 2" smaller on the inside width if is has a padded or quilted lining (e.g. 1" less if lightly padded lining, 2" less if quilted padded lining).

How to Check Your Size
We do recommend that the person's up to date chest measurement is used when selecting the required size from the leather garment sizing chart. Where the waist or abdomen area is larger / wider than the chest, then this measurement needs to be used when selecting against the 'To Fit Chest Size' (particularly if the jacket is to be done up).
Where a specific fit is required the below guidelines may be of assistance:
For styles where the actual external chest measurement of the garment is provided, and / or a specific fit may be required the below guidelines may be of assistance:
- For ladies jackets, need to typically allow between 1 to 6 inches (2.5-15cm) in addition to person's actual chest (or waist if wider) measurement against the garment external chest measurement, depending on height and build of individual and fit desired:
fitted fit - allow 1" (2.5cm)
semi-fitted - allow 2" (5cm)
comfort fit - allow 3-4" (7.5-10cm)
loose fit - allow 5-6" (10-12.5cm)
- For men's jackets, typically need to allowbetween 2 to 7 inches (5-17.5cm) in addition to person's actual chest (or waist if wider) measurement against the garment external chest measurement, depending on height and build of individual and fit desired:
slim fit - allow 2" (5cm)
regular fit - allow 2-3" (5-7.5cm)
comfort fit - allow 4-6" (10-15cm)
loose fit - allow 6-7" (15-17.5cm)
If a person is very tall / broad it is usually best to opt for a size that allows 4-6" (10-15cm) in addition to person's actual chest measurement (e.g. if desire tailored fit and are very tall / broad build then allow 4" (10cm), if desire comfort fit and are very tall / very broad then allow 6" (15cm) over own actual chest size). Please contact us if in doubt or require assistance.
Sleeve Length
Sleeve length measurements are given from the top of the jacket sleeve (i.e. where the sleeve seam joins the shoulder panel) down to the end of the cuff.
Jackets that have a cuff band and or popper / stud cuffs are better for individual's who require a shorter sleeve fit as this can help to fit the jacket sleeve up to the person's wrist area.
Shoulder Width
Shoulder width measurements are for the jacket half front panel (i.e. from the collar seam join to the end of the shoulder seam where it joins the sleeve seam).
LADIES Sizing Notes:
Please note that bra size does not generally equal chest size.
We do recommend that the person's up to date chest measurement is used when selecting from below sizing information. Please note that bra size does not generally equal chest size, if using a bra size for a rough guide then please add on 1" per cup letter, e.g. 34B = 34 + 2 = 36" (91.5cm); this is only a very rough guide and can be 10-25% inaccurate. Also if the person's waist or abdomen area is any larger than the chest, then this measurement needs to be used when selecting the required jacket chest size if the jacket is to be done up.
MENS Sizing Notes:
Please note that suit / jacket sizes will be anything between 4-8" (10-20cm) bigger than the chest size label, hence why the up-to-date actual chest measurement for the person that will be wearing the jacket is important when selecting the appropriate jacket size.
GUIDANCE
Alternatively, if you are borderline between sizes and, or would like guidance on best size for you please add in the Special Instructions box on the order checkout page the below information:
- Chest measurement - up to date ACTUAL chest measurement:
- Waist measurement (at the widest point - very important if the jacket is to be done up):
- Height:
- Build: slender, medium, large, stocky
- Fit desired: fitted (slim fit), semi-fitted (regular fit), comfort fit, loose fit
- Size usually taken
Jacket & Coat Measurement Comparison
If measuring another jacket against the above measurements please note:
1) External jacket measurements for approximate comparison should only be taken from a suit jacket or similar outer wear jacket (i.e. not a cardigan / jumper / anorak / heavy coat) that fits the individual in the desired manner and is similar to the new jacket style being ordered.
2) The jacket needs to be buttoned up and laid flat before any measurements are attempted.
3) Chest measurement - this is taken from underarm to underarm, about 0.5" (1 cm) down from under arm crease. The underarm to under measurement should be multiplied by a factor of 2 to attain the EXTERNAL CHEST measurement for the jacket (e.g. 21"/ 53cm underarm to underarm flat measurement x 2 = 21" x 2= 42" / 106cm external jacket measurement).
4) TOP Sleeve Length - this is from the cuff of the sleeve up to the shoulder seam.
5) These are only general guide notes and are NOT an assurance that the jacket ordered will meet the exact fit requirements.
