It seems that despite a global economic slow down cost prices on many raw materials are rising and this is also particularly true for leather and sheepskin. It seems that global demand is increasing and this has pushed prices up further. This has been fuelled by leather jackets and sheepskin coats featuring highly on the fashion catwalks. In addition leather is becoming more sought after as it is increasing being recognised and coveted for its graceful attributes such as:
- Delightfully comfortable to wear and is brilliant for keeping the wind and the cold out.
The same can't be said for some other man-made fibres or synthetic leather immiitations.
- Amazing ability to mould and improve its fit and shape to the person wearing it.
- Ability to mature beautifully, it gains what many would say is added character as it ages.
- Natural material that bretahes and so will not roast you in the same way that some
synthetic materials can.
- Durable and versatile.
- Sophisticated and cool in style.
- Expensive, chic and galmourous designs add an extra dimension.
- Yet the trusted and faithful leather jacket can be humble, worldly and wise and never let
you down as it goe swith nearly anything.
The increased demand for leather and sheepskin has been steadily building over the last 2 years and the very cold December and January in the UK and other countries has only fuelled further rises. There have been various market-wide price increases in the availability of the raw material due to greater demand for letaher as a fashion item during 2011, it is rumoured that a futher price increase may take place in the first quarter of 2012. To be forewarned is to be forearmed, if you have been thinking about buying a leather jacket or sheepskin coat don't delay and buy it now, especially if it is in the sale at a reduce dprice! It is only going to cost you more for the same thing come next autumn and winter!
