The fashion catwalks are strutting leather jackets as the great fashion accessory and show item for this season. It would seem that the leather jacket has never really gone out of fashion, and if you think of it its inception must have been back in the days of the cave man, only then they would have been more like capes and wraps.

Remember if you want soft touch easy to wear jacket or coat that will give all the great benefits of leather (e.g. wind shileding, warmth and bearthability) then nappa leather is want you need. Nappa comes in two main varieties: regular with a very soft sheen and soft touch quality (same as soft pair of leather gloves or shoes), or in aniline with a vintage colour finish and an extra silky touch feel. Aniline is a more expensive and delicate finish. If you want a hard wearing garment that will take some rough and tumble or you just like thicker and heavier leather then its hide for you (it can get fairly wieghty when worn for a long period). If it is  matt finish that you are after then look for brushed leather or nubuck.  And for those fashionistas that want that glossy leather look then it is 'glazed' finish that you are after for that classic retro look.
